My baking experiment #54 – snickerdoodles

I was gonna bake some cupcakes today but ran out of milk. So i decided to bake something without milk: a French yogurt cake, or gâteau au yaourt. It’s a simple cake that has a texture somewhere between muffin and pound cake. The French measure out the ingredients using a yogurt jar, hence its name. http://chocolateandzucchini.com/recipes/cakes-tarts/yogurt-cake-recipe/… Continue reading My baking experiment #51 – french yogurt cake

My baking experiment #45 – chocolate éclairs

Today is Bastille Day: le quatorze juillet, the French National Day (La Fête nationale). I’m celebrating by baking up one of my favorite French pastries – chocolate éclairs. The éclair is a choux pastry (pâte à choux) that originated in Burgundy, France during the nineteenth century when it was called “pain à la duchesse” or “petite duchesse“. It’s filled with pastry cream (crème pâtissière)… Continue reading My baking experiment #45 – chocolate éclairs
