This is the first time i’m baking something savory. I have some leftover bread and cheese sitting in my fridge so i thought: what can i make with these? My husband prefers savory food, so i decided to whip up a cheesy bread casserole for lunch. Crossing my fingers it will turn out well!
1 3/4 cups regular milk
1/4 cup coconut milk
1 large egg
salt & pepper to taste
additional seasoning, eg curry powder, chili powder
1 cup grated cheese
leftover bread, cubed
additional add-ins, eg mushroom, scallion, onion, tomato
Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease a baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together first 6 ingredients.
Stir in bread & additional add-ins. Pour into baking dish.
Bake 30-40 minutes until done.
The good thing about this recipe is you can add in whatever seasoning & ingredients to suit your personal tastes. I love spicy food so i added curry & chili powder. You can add meat like ham or bacon or sausage but i decided to keep it simple & healthy.
This smells really great coming out of the oven. It tastes slightly spicy because of the curry & chili powder. The ingredients & seasoning came together really well, almost like a spicy stuffing/dressing which would go great next to some roast chicken or turkey! I think i’m gonna make this for thanksgiving 🙂
