My very first attempt at “baking” was a very simple microwave chocolate mug cake. After several months of actual baking experience, I wanted to go back to basics and try a microwave cake again (with a different recipe):
- ¼ cup flour
- 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- dash salt
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 1 Tbsp Nutella
- In a bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. Whisk in milk and oil until well combined and batter has no clumps.
- Pour batter into microwave-safe mug (or ramekin) with enough head space for cake to rise.
- Drop Nutella in middle of batter. (No need to push down.) Set mug on plate to catch overflow.
- Microwave on high for 60-70 seconds. Carefully remove from microwave and enjoy with ice-cream!
This mug cake is so yummy! I inverted the cake onto a plate and it became a molten chocolate cake. Not just any molten chocolate cake; it was actually oozing Nutella! OMG what amazing flavor! And the cake was so moist. I topped it with ice-cream and ate the entire thing in less than a minute. (I licked the plate too… shhh) Such a quick & simple dessert. I’ll probably be making this everyday now… 😛
