My baking experiment #92 – bongo bars

I needed an inspiration for dessert tonight and came across this recipe for bongo bars. Never heard of bongo bars but it’s an interesting name for a dessert. They are basically chocolate chip blondies and from the pictures they look absolutely delectable:

Ingredients
  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 oz chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease loaf pan.
  2. Mix butter and brown sugar in bowl. Mix in flour and baking powder. (Mix will be crumbly. Do not overmix!)
  3. Mix in egg and vanilla. Fold in chocolate chips. Spread in pan.
  4. Bake 20-30 minutes. Enjoy with ice-cream!

Right out of the oven they are crispy & crunchy on the outside, chewy & gooey on the inside. They taste like chocolate chip cookies with the texture of brownies. These bongo bars are absolutely amazing, perfect with ice-cream! 🙂
