PB chocolate pretzel bars

I’ve always been a fan of different flavor combos like chocolate & orange, sweet & savory, sour & spicy, etc. Today i’m making a dessert with 2 of my favorite flavor combos: peanut butter & chocolate, and sweet & salty:

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 3 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup broken pretzels
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
  1. Line loaf pan with foil leaving overhang on both sides. Lightly grease foil.
  2. In large bowl, beat together 5 Tbsp peanut butter and softened butter until creamy and well combined. Gradually beat in 1/4 cup powdered sugar. Stir in remaining sugar, 3/4 cup pretzel bits and 2 Tbsp chocolate chips. Combine well. Spread into loaf pan, smoothing evenly on top.
  3. MicrowaveΒ together remaining chocolate chips and peanut butter 30-60 seconds until just melted. Spread chocolate layer over peanut butter mixture. Smooth surface evenly on top. Sprinkle with remaining pretzel bits, lightly pressing down. Cover and refrigerate several hours until firm.
  4. Using foil overhang, lift dessert from pan onto cutting board. Cut into small squares and chill until ready to serve. Bars will soften if left out too long.

These dessert bars have a great flavor profile: the peanut butter blends perfectly with the chocolate, and their sweetness is checked by the salty pretzels, which also happens to give a nice crunchy texture when you bite into it.

Such a simple, no-bake dessert with only a handful of pantry ingredients. Hope you’ll try it out! Have a great weekend πŸ™‚
