My baking experiment #151 – Chocolate French Toast Bake

Happy Thursday! I know, you must be thinking: Thursday? Shouldn’t i be at work instead of baking at home? Well, this morning i’m working from home because my coworkers & i are going to a Rangers game in the afternoon. It’ll be my very first baseball game so i’m pretty excited!

Anyway, since i rarely get to be home during the week, i decided to surprise my husband by making him some breakfast. And what’s better than waking up to fresh-baked bread in the morning?!

1 tube refrigerated biscuits
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp cookie spread or chocolate spread
2/3 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 7×7 baking pan.

In bowl, whisk egg, milk, vanilla and cookie spread until well-blended. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces, place into mixture and stir to coat. Fold in chocolate chips.

Pour biscuits into baking pan. Bake 20-25 minutes until biscuits are no longer doughy on the inside and there is no more liquid.

Cool slightly then dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with chocolate syrup. Enjoy warm!

My husband was awakened by the fragrance of the freshly baked bread wafting from the oven. The french toast is soft & fluffy, almost like a pancake. The chocolate chips give it just enough sweetness for a more indulgent breakfast.

Well since i’m working from home, i actually have to be working, so till this weekend (which is coming soon), happy baking, y’all! 🙂
