My baking experiment #163 – hot chocolate palmiers

Happy Saturday! It’s a lovely morning; the sun is finally shining after a week of cold & gloom. The temperature outside is mild. It’s a gorgeous day. I decided to make some chocolate palmier cookies for breakfast:

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 3-4 Tbsp hot chocolate mix

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400ºF. Lay pastry out on parchment paper. Gently roll pastry to flatten folds. Sprinkle hot chocolate mix over entire surface of pastry.

Fold two opposite ends of pastry sheet toward middle, 1/4 of way in. Fold each side in again so folded edges touch. Fold pastry over one more time, creating rolled stack 6 layers high.

Using sharp knife, cut roll into 20 equal thin pieces.

Move parchment paper over to baking sheet. Gently lay rolled pieces flat on parchment paper 3 inches apart. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown. Cool and serve!

Oooh these cookies are super yummy! The pastry is flaky and slightly crunchy on the outside. The chocolate filling inside is mildly sweet; perfect with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate! I’m going to devour these shortly! 🙂
