My baking experiment #169 – new year poke cake

 

Happy New Year’s Eve! Can you believe today is the last day of 2016?! I say this every year and i’ll say it again: time flies!

We’re going to a friend’s house tonight for a new year’s eve party, and of course i’m bringing dessert. Wow… this is my last bake for 2016. And since i’m such a chocoholic, i’m going with chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.

Let’s celebrate the end of the year with cake & chocolate!!

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix + ingredients needed to make cake
  • 1 jar hot fudge topping
  • 1 (4-oz) package instant chocolate pudding
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 (8-oz) tub cool whip, thawed
  • 10 Oreo cookies, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Make cake mix according to package directions and bake in well-greased 9×13 pan.
  2. When cake is done, allow to cool for 10 minutes, then poke holes all over cake at 1-inch intervals. Pour hot fudge over cake and spread evenly.
  3. Add milk to pudding mixture and whisk for 1-2 minutes until most lumps are removed and pudding just starts to thicken.
  4. Pour pudding mixture over warm cake, then spread evenly with spoon and gently push down on pudding to fill into holes. Put cake in refrigerator to cool completely.
  5. When ready to serve, fold crushed cookies into cool whip and spread evenly on top of cake. Drizzle with more hot fudge or decorate as desired.

I haven’t tasted this cake but i believe it will be epic! Moist chocolate cake with hot fudge, chocolate pudding, and Oreo whipped topping. Can anything taste better? Chocolate on chocolate on chocolate. It’s my dream come true!
